Dance in the time of Covid-19 has been COMPLICATED! Teaching tap dance and jazz on Zoom for almost an entire session was definitely a new experience for me--and for my students. We all learned a lot last spring and not just about dance. I think I'm a lot more comfortable in front of a camera than I've ever been before! My students, meanwhile, had to figure out how to train at home. Depending on how much space they had--and how many siblings and pets--that wasn't easy! That's why I'm so happy I'll be back in-studio at Dance Enthusiasm in Salem, MA teaching tap and jazz -- including my signature adult tap classes -- starting on September 16! We had a chance to perfect our Covid safety procedures during our summer session. The tl;dr version is lots of hand sanitizer, lots of cleaning, lots of open windows, and squares taped out on all the floors to ensure dancers were distancing.
